About Help for Heroes
Founded in 2007 to support wounded, injured and sick Service Personnel and Veterans, Help for Heroes is one of the nation’s leading charities for the Armed Forces Community.
No matter when or where someone served, or how long they were in uniform, we give our Heroes and their families the tools and help they need to lead secure and healthy lives.
Recovery is about more than repairing damaged bodies and minds; it’s about rebuilding lives and relationships, restoring confidence and renewing hope. And because we know that Veterans’ needs and circumstances change over time, we promise them support for as long as they need us.
The specialist staff at our Recovery Centres and in our outreach teams provide a wide range of services – including access to adaptive sports, careers guidance and skills training, housing and benefits advice and psychological wellbeing therapies. Our Hidden Wounds service also offers free and confidential counselling to Veterans and families living with anxiety, depression, stress, anger or alcohol problems.
We also help the families and carers who support our Heroes by offering family days, respite breaks and access to our supportive fellowship network , so that we can help them to understand and adapt to their loved one’s condition.
So far we’ve helped more than 22,000 Service Personnel and Veterans but we know that thousands more are struggling to deal with the long-term effects of their experiences. We’re determined to reach those who haven’t come forward and your Hero Fund can help us to do that – all in your loved one’s name.
